Where is the Best Place to Live in Northern VA | City of Fairfax

Hey, welcome to our channel life in Northern Virginia, where I share everything that you could ever want to know about Northern Virginia. Today, we are going to check out the city within the city, the City of Fairfax. It's a really neat little area located right in the heart of Fairfax.

If this is your first time to channel welcome, my name is Kat Massetti and I'm the realtor and founder of the Haven Group right here in Northern Virginia. I've helped a ton of people relocate to this area. Just give me a call, text, email, smoke signal. However, you want to get a hold of me and I'll make sure to get right back to you and make your move to Northern Virginia as easy and as smooth as possible.

All right, enough with the pleasantries, let's go ahead and check out the City of Fairfax. You're also in for a treat today because I managed to wrangle my kids off the couch and we are going to go exploring the City of Fairfax together. The City of Fairfax is a six mile jurisdiction in its own right, in the heart of Fairfax County. They even have their own mayor! It is located conveniently just 20 minutes from Washington, DC with a mix of old, new, small town charm and city life.

Just take a stroll down the streets and you'll see what I'm talking about: it is a city with a little mix of history too. I mean, just check out the old Fairfax courthouse built in 1800 and still standing today right next to the present day courthouse. It has a very cool mix of old and new all in one place: this cool small town vibe mixed in with city life. It regularly tops best quality of life lists where the 24,000 residents call it home. They really enjoy that small town vibe. You can be living right in the thick of things with all the amenities right at your doorstep.

You can find a whole variety of homes as you drive through the streets of City of Fairfax. So if you're looking to relocate here, there's something for everybody. The quintessential City of Fairfax home is the single family rambler. As you drive through the streets to the City of Fairfax, you're going to see a mix of rambler style homes, also ranchers. Like everywhere else in Northern Virginia what we're seeing now is because these Ramblers and these single-family homes have been built in 1950s and 1960s, people are starting to tear them down and put up new homes. There's condo building right across from the shopping center. There's a mix of townhomes, old and new. You can get townhomes that have two car garages located in little communities around each other. They are really nicely done with brick. There's also gated community, right in the middle of the City of Fairfax. This gated community has a collection of larger single family homes, as well as larger town homes, all within its gates. Whatever option you're looking for, you're going to be able to find that in the City of Fairfax.

One of the reasons why the city of Fairfax tops all the best quality of lifeless is because of the amenities that the city of Fairfax offers. As I mentioned, it is its own little jurisdiction so it has its own city parks and rec centers. It also has its own government. Like I told you, they even have their own mayor. So, you have that small town vibe with all of that. They have a lot of green spaces, a lot of parks, a lot of different areas that you can go and hang out with your family and your kids. There's also splash pad right in the middle of the city. Note to self, my kids are eight, nine now and apparently the splash pad is not cool anymore. City of Fairfax also hosts a live concert series called Rock the Block. For sure, that's something that you definitely need to check out with your family.

There's a whole wide range of cuisines that you can have in the city of Fairfax and it's all located in this like really small block of area. Of course, as you know, I can't go anywhere without coffee. So first up is always going to be a coffee shop. I love to visit DeClieu Coffee. I got the mojito cold brew which is super refreshing on a hot day like today. You have Thai food. You can have Italian. They also have Indian food! You'll need to check out High Side, which is a neat, kind of beer shop/brewery. There is also the Wine House, which is one of my personal favorites. There's an acai bowl place. There's Smashed Creamery, which is a rolled ice cream place, personal favorite of one of my kids. Also, if you're looking for more of a traditional ice cream place, there's Woody's ice cream! Today was super-hot so we stopped by for a scoop of ice cream, as well as a milkshake. So, whatever you're looking for in the City of Fairfax, I think you're going to be able to find it!

in addition to all the restaurants, the City of Fairfax has to offer, there are also a couple stores that I think you really need to check out. There's a running store and there's even a bridal shop. My personal favorite Mara Hair and Mode Studio! Mara Hair and Mode Studio is this awesome place with amazing hair stylists. I go every three to four months to get my hair done. And if you go upstairs, they have the mode studio where you can find a collection of all the personally curated items.

Before I go, I have to share with you my personal hidden gem of City of Fairfax. It's this tiny little sushi shop, but it's so good. Sushi Prince is a can't miss place. You literally have to go and try it out for yourself. Highly recommend getting reservations because there are only about maybe six or seven tables. So worth it though! Next time you go, please, for your sake, get the geisha roll. Definitely a favorite of me and my husband's on date night.

Thanks for checking out the City of Fairfax today. I think you can see why City of Fairfax is named one of the best neighborhoods in Northern Virginia: from all the historical sites, the activities to the parks, to the restaurants and shops. I think City of Fairfax is an amazing place to live. If you want to learn more about life in Northern Virginia, go ahead and send me an email or a text.
