McLean, Vienna, Great Falls, and Arlington VA

Spring in Northern Virginia has its own kind of magic.

The patios fill up. The trails get busier. Farmers markets become a weekend ritual. Everyone suddenly remembers that we live in one of the best places for a little city energy, a little nature, and a lot of really good coffee.

If you’re looking for things to do in McLean, Vienna, Great Falls, or Arlington VA this spring, here’s your curated local guide.

McLean: Polished and Easy

McLean is perfect for a slower, more refined weekend.

Start with coffee at Greenberry’s Coffee Co., then take a walk through McLean Central Park or stop by McLean Project for the Arts for a little culture. If you’re hosting later, swing by The Organic Butcher of McLean for something beautiful to grill.

For dinner, keep it classic with J. Gilbert’s, make it pretty at ArTeA, or head toward Tysons Galleria for shopping and dinner plans.

McLean weekend vibe: coffee, errands, art, polished dinner, quiet luxury.

Vienna: Charming and Local

Vienna is where spring feels neighborly in the best way.

Walk or bike the W&OD Trail, then stop by Caboose Brewing Co. or Caboose Commons for coffee, brunch, or a casual patio moment. For a more elevated dinner, book Clarity or Maple Ave Restaurant.

One of the prettiest spring stops in Northern Virginia is Meadowlark Botanical Gardens, with walking paths, gardens, water views, and plenty of photo-worthy blooms.

Vienna weekend vibe: trail walk, brunch, garden stroll, dinner that feels thoughtfully planned.

Great Falls: Scenic and Quiet

Great Falls is where Northern Virginia goes to breathe.

Start at Great Falls Park for Potomac River views and hiking, or head to Riverbend Park for a softer, more peaceful nature moment. Colvin Run Mill is another great spring stop if you want something historic and easy.

Afterward, grab coffee at Katie’s Coffee House or stop by Great Falls Creamery for ice cream. For a true destination dinner, L’Auberge Chez François is always a special occasion favorite.

Great Falls weekend vibe: river views, trail shoes, village coffee, ice cream, and dinner worth dressing up for.

Arlington: Social and Energetic

Arlington is for the weekend that starts outdoors and ends with dinner plans.

Walk or bike the Mount Vernon Trail, explore Theodore Roosevelt Island, or start your Saturday at the FRESHFARM Arlington Market in Courthouse.

For brunch, try Green Pig Bistro, Ambar Clarendon, or The Liberty Tavern. If you want something newer and social, head to Water Park in National Landing for outdoor food hall energy, drinks, and people-watching.

Arlington weekend vibe: farmers market, trail walk, brunch, patio cocktails, and a little city energy.

The Perfect Spring Weekend Plan

Friday night: Dinner in Arlington Saturday morning: Coffee and shopping in McLean Saturday afternoon: Meadowlark Botanical Gardens in Vienna Saturday night: Dinner at Clarity, Maple Ave, or J. Gilbert’s Sunday morning: Great Falls Park or Riverbend Park Sunday afternoon: Coffee, ice cream, and a slow reset before Monday
